My Philosophy
I start each client partnership with a conversation, so I can learn more about the unique circumstances, motivations, needs, preferences, timelines, and submission requirements of each writer and project.
My priority is supporting clients in meeting their writing goals so that they remain the owner and expert of their work. I provide encouraging feedback with either a technical or educational emphasis, depending on the client’s needs and preferences.
It brings me joy when a client and I wrap up our time working together with a completed project that meets their writing goals through a well-organized document that accurately communicates the writer’s content, expertise, and passion.
For student work:
For students, my coaching and editing is focused on writing structure and style, including grammar, syntax, punctuation, organization, flow, clarity, conciseness, and APA formatting.
I can support the writing of student work at any stage of the writing process*, but I do not advise on content and methods. Students of all levels should develop their content and methods in conjunction with their advisor and through study of the literature and methodology texts.
For students, my coaching and editing is focused on how to present the information in writing, rather than the information itself.
Note: I do not check for plagiarism nor quality of sources. Students are expected to adhere to their institution’s academic integrity standards and expectations of quality.
*Academic Integrity
I strictly adhere to academic integrity standards. Because of this I do not write, add, significantly change, or delete content for students and will not support projects that need to be fully written and edited by students (e.g., qualifying papers).
I can make edits to fix grammar, syntax, punctuation, and formatting. I can also give recommendations for organization, flow, clarity, and conciseness, but I will not make those changes for students.

About Me
I am an educator with a 13-year history of working in higher education, mostly as an administrator in collegiate recreation and as an adjunct faculty member. After completing my Ph.D., I reconnected with my love of writing and editing, picking up a “side job” as a part-time academic coach and editor to help pay my student loans. Quickly, I fell in love with supporting writers, particularly those in the high-stress environment of doctoral programs.
In August 2019, I transitioned to full-time editing and writing coaching work. My years of working in fun-loving, supportive, goal-driven educational environments have been a fantastic complement to my lifelong love of reading and writing and my own doctoral writing experience. I find joy in alleviating common stresses of writing and editing and strive to create an enjoyable partnership for writers to meet their writing goals.
In addition to writing coaching and editing, I hold an adjunct faculty position at DePaul University in the College of Education and host trivia for Whaddayaknow? free pub trivia.
In my free time, I engage with social justice education and activism, cook and study cooking/food, do as many outdoor activities as I can (e.g., biking, hiking, running, surfing , beach volleyball), play board games with my family and friends, and binge horror films.
